Day 1 Arrive Lhasa & transfer to hotel (3658m)

You will be welcomed by your Tibetan guide and driver and presented with a White katak (scarf).

Day 2 Lhasa sightseeing – Potala & Jokhang (3658m)

Your guide will introduce you to the two most important historic sights in Lhasa –the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple with time to explore the busy Barkhor pilgrim circuit and market surrounding the Jokhang.

Day 3 Lhasa – Ganden -Sera (4950m/45km)

Only 45kms outside Lhasa, Ganden’s setting high on a ridge overlooking the Kyi Chu Valley is spectacular. After lunch in the monastery restaurant,

explore the main chapels, including the vast assembly hall. After (optionally) making the 1½ hour kora(circumambulation route), continue to Lhasa.

In the Afternoon, we will visit Sera Monastery which is another one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet. The hot attraction is the Monks debate at around 3 – 5 in the afternoon.

Day 4 Lhasa – Yamdrok Lake – Gyantse (3950m/267km)

The route to Gyantse crosses 3 big mountain passes: Khamba-la, Karo-la (5045m) and Simi-la. From the Khamba-la drop down to the shores of Yamdrok Tso before climbing again. From the Karo-la you can also admire the glaciers of Mt Nojin Kangsang (7191m).The most important monastery in Gyantse is the complex of Pelkor Choede which also houses the famous Gyantse kumbum.

Day 5 Shigatse – Gya Tsola pass – Sakya(4280/229km)

Morning turn northwest through one of Tibet’s richest farm areas, growing barley, wheat and varieties of vegetables to Shigatse, Tibet’s second largest city. Afternoon visit Sakya monastery ,Sakya monastery is an important monastery . It was the seat of the sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism and is known for the unique architecture and ancient artifacts.

Day 6 Sakya – Rombuk – Lao Tingri (4300m/333km)

Today is a long day, but well worth it for the incredible scenery. Head west along the Friendship Highway before turning south and climbing through winding valleys and passes to Rombuk gompa at 5000m. From here the views of Everest are spectacular. Descend down to the small town of Lao Tingri for the night.

Day 7 Lao Tingri – Shigatse (3840m/291km)

Drive back east to Shigatse where you visit the vast Tashilumpo monastery after which you will have time to explore the local market.

Day 8 Shigatse – Nyemo – Dumxung (4300m/327km)

Drive through Nyemo Grassland to Damxung this morning .enjoy a far view of Yampachen . A thermoelectric power plant was built here which is not only the first project of geothermal power station in the world . Then keep move to the grassland in Northern Tibet. It is a paradise for wildlife

Day 9 Dumxung – Namtso – Lhasa (4918m/238km)

An early start this morning drive to Lake Namtso, heading across the Largen-La pass (4970m) to the lake. The last 18km are by the National Park eco-bus. But well worth the journey.North of Lhasa the Tibetan Plateau’ s second largest saltwater lake, Namtso Chukmo is spectacular site, dominated by the snow peak of Nyenchen Thanglha, it teems with migratory birds and the cave hermitages at Tashidor are a popular pilgrimage destination.

Day 10 Transfer to Lhasa airport

You have a free morning before transfering to the airport for your departure flight.
